SPG is the Foundation's top corporate partner, and the company hosts Bowling for Education tourneys throughout the year. The back-to-back events in October, 2011, have raised a total of nearly $300,000 to support SYF's two major initiatives: Simon Youth Academies and Simon Youth Scholarships.
To raise funds, SPG malls that operate in a particular region compete to bring in the most sponsorship dollars for their region's bowling event. The friendly competition among malls culminates in an evening of fun on the lanes that is attended by hundreds of people, including representatives from the sponsor companies, members of the Simon malls teams, community leaders, and other supporters. A silent auction also is held in conjunction with the bowling tournaments.
We need to give a special shout out to SMS Holdings and Valor Security, which served as sponsors for all three of the regional Bowling for Education events mentioned in this post. Read below for more information about the individual regions' fundraising milestones.
SPG Mid-Atlantic Region
More than $74,500 was raised for SYF by the SPG Mid-Atlantic region through its Bowling for Education event, which was a 24 percent increase over its 2010 total.
SPG Atlanta Region
More than $105,200 was raised for SYF by the SPG Atlanta region through its Bowling for Education event. J.J. Morley and Dixie Electric sponsored the program with donations of $10,000. Other top sponsors that donated at the $5,000 level were Cannon Roofing, United Restoration, and Russell Landscape. The Atlanta Region photos are courtesy of www.sarahanna.com.
