Simon Youth Foundation makes super television appearance

The Today Show crew
It may only be those living under a rock that are unaware, but in fairness to those folks, we'll start off by saying that Indianapolis, Ind., the home of the Simon Youth Foundation administrative offices, is hosting Super Bowl XLVI this week.

To mark the occasion, NBC's Today Show broadcast live with anchor Ann Curry and weatherman Al Roker from the Super Bowl Village on Friday, Feb. 3. The Village is two short blocks from the SYF offices, and members of our staff were in the Today Show crowd, proudly carrying SYF signs.

Joy Bork, the Foundation's administrative assistant for advancement, was the first SYFer to arrive at the show site at 6 a.m., a full hour before Today started its broadcast.

Bork, left, with SYF's Della Lefevers
and Foundation President and CEO
J. Michael Durnil, Ph.D., held
SYF signs at the Today show
"When I arrived the lines were already six people deep," Joy says. "I'm just glad that I am tall, and I held the handle at the very end so that my SYF sign could be seen."

Joy's hard work paid off when SYF signs with the Foundation's logo and website hit the airwaves.

"Al Roker rode the zipline right over our heads, and you could see our signs in the air during that segment when he tossed it back to Ann Curry," Bork says.

You can watch the clip of Roker's ride across the Indianapolis skyline below. The SYF logos appear over Ann Curry's head at around the 1:12 mark.
